Name: Aldo Marin
Current College Course: MSc Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Dublin City University
Internship Department: Communications
Having previously worked in communications, I wanted to expand on all that I had learned before, just in a different sector. Despite not having a vast amount of experience in the retail industry, I applied for the internship at Lidl and I got it! I felt that it would be the perfect way to broaden both my knowledge and my experience – and I wasn’t wrong.
Throughout my internship I have touched all areas of the Communications department, from social media and public relations, to internal communications and events. I’ve even worked with different departments within the business to fulfil a plan or project. It’s been a great way to put what I’ve learned during my Masters into practice in a real working environment.
Moving from Peru to Ireland, I’ve had to learn a lot about a market that’s so different to the one that I’ve grown up in. It has been challenging for me, but extremely interesting at the same time. Working at Lidl has allowed me to really develop my attention to detail, time management and communication skills, as well as my verbal and written English language skills in a corporate environment.
If you’re looking to take the first step in your professional career, Lidl is a great option. Some of my colleagues that started their careers here, whether that was as an intern or in a Lidl store, have grown professionally in the company over the years. If you love challenges and fast-moving industries, you should definitely apply for an internship at Lidl
