As the Responsible Sourcing Manager, you will be in charge of driving the Sourcing pillar of ‘A Better Tomorrow’ our business CSR strategy and managing the CSR Purchasing Department. You will be responsible for the strategic development of the CSR roadmap for the Commercial department and the development and execution of national and international Responsible Sourcing projects and policies.

Your focus will be the environmental and ethical aspects of our Lidl own-brand products and suppliers. You will be working along our commercial colleagues to bring affordable sustainable products to our customers, as well as interacting with other key internal and external stakeholders.

We are looking for a strong decision maker and excellent communicator with a minimum of 3+ years of project management experience to join our team

What you'll do

  • Implementation of the national CSR roadmap for the Commercial department integrating Lidl’s Group international CSR strategy, policies and sourcing commitments.  
  • Development and implementation of Responsible Sourcing policies and projects at a national level, enforcing our CSR requirements and monitoring internal KPI’s.
  • Support our buyers in their decision-making regarding sustainability and ethical aspects of our own-brand products. Provide regular training in product sustainability and inform on consumer and market trends, competitor analysis and product innovations.
  • Execute our Ethical Trading Programme and manage our Sedex platform and Ethical Trade Coordinator.
  • Drive the business packaging reduction targets along with our internal Packaging Technologist. 
  • Contribute to main CSR company-wide strategic projects such as our Climate Strategy and annual sustainability reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders (NGOs, industry bodies and government) and collaborate in developing sector-wide solutions where appropriate.
  • Offer technical support our to our Marketing and Communications teams in external communications.

What you'll need

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role the field of CSR / Sustainability / Responsible Sourcing within a food retailer or FMCG market
  • A comprehensive, technical understanding of environmental and ethical raw materials/product certifications and 3rd party audit schemes is essential
  • Third-level degree is essential
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Independent, self-starter, ability to drive change
  • Experience in project management
  • German language skills is an advantage
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • Open-minded and flexible
  • Full driving license is essential
